Nicola Arkell Reed

Artist, teacher, beekeeper


Originally from Edinburgh, Nicola has an MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins and a PGDip from Chelsea College of Art, UAL London. She has a teaching degree from UCL, London. Nicola’s practice has a focus on painting and photography. ‘The Busy Bee Has No Time For Sorrow’ at the 2020 Maltese Biennale is her most recent exhibition, for which wax painting and projected animation consider the decline of bees in Malta.

Nicola has tutored Fine Art on the UAL Camberwell Chelsea Wimbledon Foundation and at the University of Gloucestershire, as well as lead drawing workshops at the University of Malta, Chelsea College of Arts, The Idler Magazine and The Connection in Piccadilly. Nicola privately tutors young artists for art school and university entry.

Nicola is a keen beekeeper and is co-founder of the Beeble honey whisky brand, which she originally produced in her kitchen at home in Wiltshire. Beeble is now available online and at many farm shops across the UK. Nicola is an active philanthropist and is a trustee for the charities Ethiopiaid and The Big Give, as well as being an Ambassador for Bees for Development.

Nicola lives in London and Wiltshire and has six children.
